Clubhouse Renovations

The clubhouse renovations are finally showing some rapid progress. The midweek ladies test the new sliding doors
In the month of July we have:

  • had the beams put in place to support the upper storey and the roof
  • fixed in place the new window wall facing the courts
  • run all the wiring and plumbing required
  • moved the switchboard to its final location
  • battened up the interior
  • gibbed, stopped and painted the interior

Phew!

From now on it is finishing time for the floor, a little skirting, and then the exciting job of putting in place a new kitchenette.
We have approached the mid-week ladies for their input in this area, and look forward to their ideas!

Starter for 10:
What structural feature is there, but not there, and we don't need it anyway?

Answer:
The north facing window that used to let the light into the north room.

New Courts, Fences, Drainage

With help from Auckland City Council we have recently added vehicle access to the courts by way of three sets of double gates and an access ramp behind the volleyboard.

Where would we be without the new double gates! This has allowed us to bring trucks onto the courts to improve our facilities as follows:

  • With assistance from the Auckland City Council, drilled three large soak holes which have helped with our drainage problem.
  • With assistance from the ASB Trust, replaced the worn court surfaces on courts 1 and 2.
  • Replaced the old slot drain on court 2 with a new full length channel drain which connects to the soak hole.
  • With assistance from the Scottwood Trust, replaced and heightened the tattered fencing in the volleyboard area.
  • With assistance from Vincent Painting Ltd, lengthened the volleyboard court.
  • With assistance from AllSports Dominion Rd, cleaned and painted the bottom fence.
  • With assistance from Eden Cloakroom replaced one of our old court nets.
  • With assistance from our insurance company, new fencing between court bays - after being blown down in a storm!

The access gates also gave truck access to deliver the magnificent new glass doors in the clubhouse, the heavy gib lining and other building materials.

We are seeking assistance from other sponsors to replace our aged tennis nets before the new season begins.
Please contact us if you can assist with these vital pieces of equipment.
